Writing a short and sweet Christmas speech for your company’s or club’s or association’s annual office party shouldn’t be so hard if you follow these easy steps.

Not too long ago, you and your dedicated employees were gobbling down turkeys at your office Thanksgiving party and what fun it was! — — (pause for effect) I can’t believe how much y’all ate!

(Wipe brow)…

Thank God that’s all over.

But guess what? Christmas is around the corner and it’s time for the annual office party. Yay?

Seriously though, your hardworking colleagues are getting into the holiday mood and they expect you to at least treat them like family.

And really, they have worked so hard throughout the year and they deserve nothing but be treated like royalty.

So let’s dig in, get our Grinch out of the building, put on some Jingle Bells and have some fun.

As you’re pretty much aware, the Christmas holiday is one of the few times in the year when you and your workhorses get to have fun and treat each other with love and kindness.

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot to tell you… Have you thought about what you will say when you grab the mic when you have to deliver your annual Christmas holiday speech or message?

I know most CEO’s and bosses work so hard but they often take this crucial aspect of the office party for granted.

Most people are accustomed to speaking in the office and they feel this is something to be taken lightly….

But do you know your speech has the power to inspire your workforce, boost their egos and even heal wounds?

If you think you can wing it, then I am sorry you wouldn’t be doing yourself and your employees any good.

Let’s face it. Most speeches given at annual get-togethers are as boring as a joke good bad because putting together something hilarious and inspiring isn’t an easy walk in the park.

By the way, I want your annual Christmas speech to be unique, inspiring, heartfelt and memorable so I want to share with you how you can put together your exact thoughts and emotions into beautiful words without wasting your precious time and mental energy.

I have been writing speeches since 2014, so I have some ideas and tips to help you out.

So, please grab a pen and paper and come along with me as I show you how to get the right words and ideas for your holiday speech.

To begin with, please…

Put yourself in the Mood

You need to prepare mentally to make this possible.

  1. So, first head to www.youtube.com or your favorite video sharing platform and put in the search term: ‘’Christmas speech at office”’ as seen below or something similar

2. Wait for a couple to pop up.

3. Then, press the play button, watch a few clips and take note of how the speakers make their speeches.

4. After that, you can rewatch those clips. But this time, jot down ideas, words, and phrases you find interesting and you think you can use them for your speech.

Here’s what I recommend you do next after watching those movies.

To get great ideas for your yearly Christmas message, you can borrow a few ideas from poetry about dedication, hard work, commitment, perseverance….to help you craft your words.

Now, let’s look a few poems and then we’ll write brief samples using the underlined words and phrases in the verses below.

Thanks to Wishes Messages for letting us have these messages.

Message/Poem 1: Although I haven’t had a chance

To be mentored by you per se

There is a lot I learn

By watching you every day

The way you organize your desk

To the way you deal with people

Every small thing about you

Makes you a thorough professional

Thanks for secretly showing me

What makes a successful career

Not everyone is lucky like me

To have you as a co-worker

Message/Poem 2:

By Iris W. Bray

Christmas is for giving
And for showing that we care,
For honoring the Christ Child
With the loving gifts, we share.

The wise men gave of riches;
The shepherds, faith and love.
Each gift, in its own measure,
Was smiled on from above.

Let every gift be treasured;
Not always size or price
Determines the extent of love
And willing sacrifice

Handsome gifts with festive trim
Bring smiles of sweet content,
But modest gifts of humble means are ofttimes heaven sent.

Whether it be large or small,
Each gift will share in part
The message of true Christmas joy
If given from the heart!

Message/poem 3:

You bring out the best in me

By pushing me to my limit

You force me to perform

By throwing challenges bit by bit

No matter how tough things are

You urge me to do better

No matter how small they may seem

You support all my endeavors

Thanks for being so supportive

So compassionate and helpful

You are the reason work hasn’t become

A rigmarole which is painful

Thank you

I love all three poems.

By the way, can you put together something very brief with any of those verses?

Ok…Christmas time is all about giving, so I will be happy to help you write a brief example.

This is what I want you to do now.

If you don’t remember those underlined words and phrases, then please kindly scroll up the page slightly and take note of them and scroll down.

Have you done that? Ok…this is what we can do with that…

A Short Christmas Speech Sample

Like all of you, today is the day I have been looking forward since the first snow fell last week.

I consider this time of the year to be most special times of our lives because we get to show how much we love and care for each other like one big family…

From watching you work so hard like tireless donkeys, you made each day count in spite of all that we’ve been through all year long…

Our football match this afternoon reminds me of a little story my grandpa told at Christmas time when I was only 8 years old….

Did you notice how I ethically swiped a few words from those stanzas and personalized them?

Can you do same? You bet!

Here’s what I recommend you do right away.

You may pick a few lines from here or you can go find the message you delivered last year and put a fresh spin on it.

Another easy way of cooking up something is to…

Use Some Good Stories

Let’s be fair. Most annual Christmas speeches often don’t elicit any emotion.

To make yours stand out, you have got to use stories as everyone loves listening to tales. You do right?

Well, below are a few useful pointers to help you come up with the right stories.

You may use:

a. Stories of what happened at the workplace or even highlight the major events that shaped your firm in the course of the year.

Memories your co-workers and employees can relate to will put warm smiles on their faces.

You may also…

b. write down funny memories of what happened at the workplace…..it should be something you laugh over at the office

You may also…

c. use personal memories…

Did you realize how I infused an example in that story? Recalling a story of what your grandparents told you when you were only 8 years old?

By the way, make sure such an anecdote fits the theme of your speech perfectly.

You may also…

d. use movie stories and your listeners would love every bit of it if it’s a well-known one or if it sounds interesting.

Just for this moment, I want to be Mr. Santa Claus because I want to give you a very precious Christmas gift.

Guess what’s in the beautifully packaged box?

A Funny Christmas Speech Example!

To illustrate, let’s go for c: personal memories- so we can bring our ideas to life.

If you want to go for something better, then can model your speech after this message:

‘’When I was growing up, my family lived in a small town along the bank of a pristine river and we used to go trout-fishing.

Guess what? Our happy community had basic supplies of life but fish was so expensive.

We were a fishing family and the entire community depended on us for their regular supply of fish.

One day, all four of us (dad, mom, sister and I) were fishing on the smooth clean waters when we heard this weird noise in the middle of the water and I almost peed in my pants.

It persisted for a while and my dad began to tremble and break out in a sweat.

Mom and my sisters were sobbing like little babies…the feeling was more like a fish stranded on dry land!

For close to 2 hours, dad had no clue had to do.

Believe it or not, the noise abated a few minutes later and to our pleasant relief, my dad discovered that my pet fish had been flooded with water and it was squeaking badly.

Well, we got back to shore and our neighbors could tell by the look on our faces that we had been through hell and back.

Out of curiosity, Mike, dad’s best friend, asked why we’ve been unusually late.

Out of exasperation, I said Mike, can you believe that a toy fish scared the daylights out of the man you consider the Giant On Water?

Well, we laugh over this whenever this incident comes to mind….

Ladies and gentlemen, our time spent on the water and in the community fostered a deep sense of love, bond, and trust and I feel that same spirit here this….

Do you love that? And can you write something pretty close to that?

This is what I want you to do at the moment.

Sit for a moment and recall a good story you think will fit into the content of your message.

Now, let’s look at what I feel it’s the easiest way to pull off a great show.

By using Christmas speech samples, your writing will be a breeze because you can simply look at a beautifully written sample, borrow a few ideas and lines here and there and add your unique voice and personality to it.

Since we are in the season of giving, I‘d love to show a brief example by US President Barack Obama and how we can make the most of it.

Here you go:

‘’ 91 years, the National Christmas Tree has stood as a beacon of light and a promise during the holiday season.

During times of peace and prosperity, challenge and change, Americans have gathered around our national tree to kick off the holiday season and give thanks for everything that makes this time of year so magical — spending time with friends and family, and spreading tidings of peace and goodwill here at home and around the world…..

Each Christmas, we celebrate the birth of a child who came into the world with only a stable’s roof to shelter Him. But through a life of humility and the ultimate sacrifice, a life guided by faith and kindness towards others, Christ assumed a mighty voice, teaching us lessons of compassion and charity that have lasted more than two millennia.

He ministered to the poor. He embraced the outcast. He healed the sick. And in Him we see a living example of scripture that we ought to love others not only through our words, but also through our deeds.’’

Can you make that yours by tweaking it a bit?

Don’t worry if you can’t. Let’s dive right in.

‘’Today’s the day that we’ve been looking very much forward to all year long.

It’s one that we have heard and we speak about and we dream about and it’s my tremendous honor to finally wish you a very Merry Christmas.

My dad used to tell me that when my granddad first founded this company 91 years ago, he believed in the miracle of Christmas.

To serve his community and fellow workers, he started our annual tradition of bringing our families around …’’

I hope you noticed how Obama’s extract inspired the above piece.
