But none is as costly as what happened in the United Kingdom. According to the Independent Newspaper, James Howells, an IT worker from Newport, claims to have unintentionally dumped a 7,500-bit coin in mid-2013.
At the time he bought that precious metal, the value of the cryptocurrency was around $ 130 and he stored the details of his transaction on his hard drive.
James recounts that after he had stopped mining for bitcoins; the laptop he used was broken into parts and sold on ebay.com.
But he kept the hard drive at home knowing pretty well it contained his bitcoin private keys so that if the currency became valuable someday, he would still have the coins he had mined.
In mid-2013, he decided to move out with his family to a new apartment.
During a clear-out, the hard drive — then worth a few hundred thousand pounds — was mistakenly thrown out and put into a general waste bin at his local landfill site, after which it was buried on-site!
In 2017, he found out that the worth the amount in dollars was over $80 million!

Did you know clients measure your worth as a writer based on your sense of self-worth?
Let me ask you this. What do you think it’s the best thing to do when things get tough as a writer or even when you are trying so hard to get clients consistently?
You see, most people think by pricing low, they will get a handful of clients. Well, that might help in the short run, but you have to work for long hours just to earn something meager.
Instead, you have to position yourself as an authority by providing your prospective clients with valuable information in the form of tips and advice and you’ll have more work than you can ever imagine.
