Let’s walk through this together. Afterwards, we will break it down into manageable steps to make writing a breeze.

Let’s go.

I want to welcome everyone and thank you for being here as we kick off the celebration over the next day and a half for Andy and Tracy’s wedding.

I think I met most everyone and if I didn’t or you don’t remember my name I’m Doug I’m Andy dad and his mom is over there. I do want to acknowledge Tracy’s parents Dave and Linda.

I know they put a ton of time and effort and hard work in planning for tomorrow and it’s going to be fabulous . Jenny and I have had a great time getting to know Dave and Linda and spending time with them over the last two or three years.

I also want to want to acknowledge all of Andy and Tracy’s family members and friends.

Thank you all for being here. A little over 25 years ago Andy was born and I’m not going to go through every year but I do clearly remember the feelings of excitement and how proud Jenny and I were to be new parents and we’ve watched Andy grow up into a wonderful young man with unquestionable integrity and strong values and it’s those same feelings of excitement and pride that get echoed tomorrow as the two of you get married.

As you watch your as you watch your kids grow up though you try and teach them right from wrong and you try and protect them from all the bad and the evil in the world and you want nothing but the absolute best for them as they go through life.

And Jenny and I couldn’t be more proud or without any shadow of a doubt that Andy was very fortunate when he met Tracy a little over six years ago and that as he gets married tomorrow with Tracy, he truly has found the best for him and we can’t wait to officially call her our daughter and Andy you’re very lucky.

There are certain couples that when you see them together, you say they were just meant to be. They were supposed to be together and Andy and Tracy do have that type of relationship. They are the perfect match like bread and butter or as Horst Gump would say peas and carrots or as Jenny would say wine and cheese. They are both very caring and very generous.

Family is very important to both of them. They are both bright and well educated. They have strong values and you can tell by looking at them. They truly are in love and from the parent’s side of that perspective; they both have jobs which is great.

So this is the point where I get to be a dad and offer some fatherly advice. Some words of wisdom for Andy. so there’s seven words that are essential to have a successful marriage. Yes dear you are right and I’m sorry. You’ll have disagreements and you’ll have arguments and when that happens, never stop communicating. Always talk things out and communicate.

Isn’t just talking it’s also listening. So listen to the other person try to see things from their perspective. Try to put yourself in Tracy’s shoes. I know you have a thing for shoes and then as long as you end that conversation with Yes dear, you right or I’m sorry everything will be fine. No seriously in this same bane if you’ve had an argument and you’re wrong don’t be afraid to admit it and if you’re right just be quiet and move on.

Here are some words of wisdom for you both.

Getting married is the Journey of a lifetime. It’s when you find your soul mate and you make the promise to that person. They will always be your soul mate it’s a lot of hard work and it’s a big commitment and it was once said that getting married and having a successful marriage is like falling in love over and over with the same person.

And that is so true and these aren’t guarantees or promises that you two are going to have a long lasting marriage. But if you’ll pursue your marriage with love and compassion and understanding.

If you’ll pursue your marriage with love and compassion and understanding you’ll be well on your way to that journey of a lifetime.

Jenny and I love you both unconditionally. We’re so proud of both of you. So without further ado, here’s a toast to a long happy healthy marriage blessed with unending love.

Cheers

Before writing your father of the groom rehearsal dinner speech and toast, you should develop an outline to guide your structure.

Here’s a basic outline I adapted from the above template to help you unify your thoughts and emotions.

· Welcome address or remarks

· Thank you notes

· Short-self introduction

· Start your speech on a refreshing note

· Talk about your son

· Talk about the bride

· Offer your best wishes and advice

Let’s examine the elements that make up each section.

· Welcome Address Or Remarks

Here’s an example:

Welcome everyone to the rehearsal dinner for Dan and Naomi. It’s wonderful to see so many loved ones gathered together. I am Mike and I am honored to stand here tonight as the proud father of the groom.

· Thank You Notes

Another example would be:

I would like to express how special all of you are, and we are so grateful that you could join us as we celebrate this love story.

I also have to say a huge thank you to John and Stella, parents of the bride for raising a beautiful and smart young woman….

You can also thank the event planners and others for coming.

Thank the wedding party, guests and your own family for their love and support.

· Short-Self Introduction

This is a perfect opportunity to tell everyone who you are. So, please introduce yourself even if the master of ceremonies has done just that.

Here’s how one father of the groom did his.

Hello everyone. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Peter, John’s dad and I’d like to personally thank you for being here tonight.

· Start Your Father Of The Groom Rehearsal Dinner Speech On A Refreshing Note

Here are two ways to start on an uplifting note.

First, share what you look forward to the next day.

Tomorrow is just the first of many milestones we will be able to celebrate as a family, and I look forward to each one.

Second, why not start with a good story?

He could be funny too. I remember him running the ball down the soccer filed then suddenly stopping and announcing that he had to take his shower before scoring a goal

· Talk About Your Son

Do you have any words you would like to say about your son? Here are a few ideas and tips that can help you put together an engaging story.

· Take it from when he was born to when he told you about his engagement.

· Share a unique aspect of his story or character that will help make him a good husband and father.

· Share a very fond memory or anecdote that will make the guests smile.

Here’s how to do it:

I remember the little boy who would climb onto my lap, eager to listen to bedtime stories. The same boy who would tag along with me to baseball games, wide-eyed with wonder. As he grew older, he became more than just my son-he became my best friend.

· Talk About The Bride

Here’s a short example to help you write one:

When he first brought Doris out west to meet us, I knew he had met the one. She complements him in every way and they treat one another with true respect.

Now, what would you like to say about her? Go back to that example and brainstorm what you would like to write about the woman becoming a bride and wife the next day.

Here’s….

· How To End Your Father Of The Groom Rehearsal Dinner Speech

Here are my two simple proposals:

First, offer your best wishes:

Tonight we celebrate their great story, and

tomorrow we will watch as you take the first step on their next adventure. I wish you the best tomorrow. God bless your wedding and marriage.

Second, end with a piece of advice:

Marriage is like starting a campfire. It begins with a spark, a flame of love that ignites two hearts. Just as a campfire requires kindling, nurturing and care, a successful marriage requires effort, patience, and teamwork to keep the flame burning bright. But, when you do, the warmth and light it brings will guide you through life’s joy and challenges.

To John and Alice, may your love be the flame that guides you, warming your hearts and illuminating your path.
